No Patreon modder can say the same, they are obligated to continue to give their mod constant updates and bug fixes, and will be held to a level equal to or higher than developer content, and rightfully so. Modders who publish free mods can always just walk away easily, hands clean and no one gets hurt, yeah maybe a little community disappointment, but no one lost any money at the end of the day. I'm all for supporting modders, donating to a modder because you like their mod is the best idea i have ever seen on these forums, everyone can enjoy it, and the modder can make revenue on the side from their mod. The game itself costs what? a one time payment of under 30 dollars? you advocate spending 6 ties as much as you spent paying for the game over the course of the year to get vehicles made by freelancers because its their right? Go for it, but you better hope they also have 6 times the effort and time and resources as the BeamNG developers, because there is no way any one of you could possibly continue to justify these paid mods if one of them, which you could have sunk 60 dollars annually into, goes belly up because the modder 'lost passion for it'. Mesh slaps from Forza should never be hind a paywall, and modders who abandon mods because of reasons such as 'outdated quality' and 'lack of passion' should certainly NEVER put mods behind a paywall, because the second it is behind a paywall, it is not your passion project or your weekend hobby, it is your business, and the people playing the game are your customers, and you must serve them what they paid for.Īnd as for those saying 'get a job, its not that hard to pay for it' if your subbing to only 3 of these 5 dollar a month Patreon mods that are everywhere, your paying 15 dollars a month, or 180 dollars anually for mods created by individuals. As it is the choice of any mod creator to make their mod paid, but once they decide that their mod is worthy of being behind a Patreon paywall, it better exceed the developer quality mods, crap like the raven, that looks like something a bored kid carved out of soap using a Bowie knife should under no circumstance be behind a paywall. To everyone saying stuff like 'get a job' or 'its their choice' its also mine and other peoples choice to either disagree or agree with that practice. Paid mods is just one of the list of things horrifically wrong with the BeamNG modding community
